My current employer (UNLEADED) is evaluating a potential rebrand. Here you’ll see some of my explorations into developing this new brand identity. It's important to clarify that the following designs are purely conceptual and have not yet undergone any official implementation.
So who are we? PlatinumBlack (currently UNLEADED) is a C-suite consulting firm with a global client base. We do all levels of consulting, including strategy work that includes things like market research and analysis, corporate strategy, strategic positioning, brand strategy, go-to-market strategies, comprehensive marketing strategy and planning, marketing program management, brand identity development, graphic design, video production, etc.
How did we arrive at the name PlatinumBlack? Our roots are firmly embedded in the energy and industrial sectors within the creative and marketing landscape. This is where we've thrived, initially under the brand UNLEADED. However, times are evolving, and these industries are now embracing a move away from fossil fuels. Introducing platinum black – a highly porous form of platinum renowned for its outstanding catalytic properties, with diverse applications in the energy sector. Unlike traditional fossil fuels, platinum black signifies a profound shift towards a sustainable future. It maintains a strong connection with our core clientele while avoiding the negative associations tied to fossil fuels.
Our journey began with moodboarding, a creative expedition delving into the very essence of the PlatinumBlack brand. We sought not only to define the brand’s look and feel but to crystallize the core values that it would proudly champion.
Much like the element of platinum black itself, this company acts as a catalyst—for change. This is something that we quickly identified as a defining characteristic and a core selling point of the brand.
We also sought to explore a visualization of a palpable sense of suspense. A thrilling anticipation on the horizon for our valued clientele. It's the feeling that something monumental is about to unfold, mirroring the transformative magic inherent in branding and identity work. And of course, it was important that we convey an overall sense of credibility and sophistication.
After lots of formal experimentation, I developed the logos shown here.
These were just a few process examples that demonstrate color and brand mark exploration.
